Dell Set to Launch Eee Competitor

According to a Compal Electronics source, Dell is stepping into the low-cost UMPC market and word is the device may launch sometime before June. We’re not too sure on what the price point will be, but Compal Electronics will be contracted to mass produce the UMPC and initial shipments of the device will be around 200,000 - 300,00 per month, with supply altering according to demand. With HP recently entering the ring, and with the Eee’s dominance in the field this market space is hotting up quickly. We’ll have more news for you as we get it.
